John Whidden - Camp Perry 2010 NRA National Outdoor Rifle Champion

John Whidden - Camp Perry Champion

When the very "best of the best" in the shooting sports want to test their skills, they head to Camp Perry for the annual NRA National Outdoor Rifle & Pistol Championships. This year John Whidden, member of our ProStaff, exceeded his previous outstanding accomplishments.

John was the Match Winner of the Tompkins Trophy which was awarded to him for having the highest combined totals for the aggregate of NRA matches 531 through 540. Here are results for all the competitions in which John participated:
  • 1st place – Mustin Trophy Match (20 shots, 1000 yds)
  • 1st place – Leech Cup Match (20 shots, 1000 yds)
  • 2nd place – Canadian Cup Match
  • 2nd place – The Roumanian Trophy Team Match (4 shooter team*, 20 shots, 1000 yds)
  • 2nd place – Herrick Trophy Team Match (4 shooter team*, 20 shots, 1000 yds)
  • 2nd place – Palma Team Match – Palma Rifle (4 shooter team*, 800, 900, 1000 yds)
  • 3rd place – Remington Band of Brothers Match (20 shots, 1000 yds)
  • 3rd place – Wimbledon Cup Match (20 shots, 1000 yds)
John uses the Forster Co-Ax® Press and Forster reloading dies, and shared that "The ammunition shot incredibly well." He added that the availability of Forster’s oversized expanders helped him fine tune bullet tension as needed.

Congratulations John! We wish you many more shooting adventures and victories.

*All of the team matches named consist of 4 shooters, a captain, and a coach for a 6 member team. Often a shooter fills in for the captain or coach or both slots, so there actually may be 4, 5, or 6 or six members on a team.
